development map

“Without maps, urban and regional planning would be chaotic”. This article talks about the importance of how to create smart map for both planning and designing. Also dealing with community when planner argument their focus on certain area. Maps are a great tool to communicate with client. It should be well prepared and be easily readable for them. Since the design might bring up either positive or negative impact on the site, the processes of researches and study of the given area must be well thought out. We are often working with scientists and engineers. As a director of certain landscape project, the leadership is needed in meeting and field observation with them. But knowledge of us should be well mixed with the co-workers. As a today landscape architect, we have to prepare our ideas to appeal to them. Without smart maps or design, it will be failure.

I agree with the direction you are headed with this post. We as designers are "the voice" to the people about how things will be planned within a city. Most citizens can go to how every many town meetings they want to, but without visual graphics and maps for them to see the actual process they will be left scratching their heads.
