McGuire, Amy . Thaisa Way: Emerging Modernisms: Women as Landscape Architects at Mid Century

Thaisa Way's lecture emerging modernism in Landscape Architecture and Women at mid century. She looks at the linear and legible history of women that helped shape and frame the practice. Modernism was a diverse time and explored by a diverse group which included women.
Thaisa Way asked how did we get from the past to the present, and explored the dialogue between men and women that became richer and more complex over time. She's looking forward and looking back at how those threads are found in contemporary practice.
Looking at the history of design can help us with design today. We can learn what works and what doesn't, and build from those ideas. Also understanding that with diversity comes a richer design.
