McHarg challenges and contradicts Judeo-Christian theology, which in turn confuses people. McHarg misinterpreted the language of the bible. Since the bible is a translation of Hebrew and Greek, some words may translate directly, but the meanings are not the same in these languages. McHarg believes that the bible gives a negative view of man and nature, but in reality the view is positive. Creation in the Judeo-Christian theology is sacred, and we need to conserve and protect the landscape through dominion, stewardship and co-existence. Balancing these three ideals can be tough. Man is responsible for the care of nature. As people, and especially landscape architects, we are stewards of the land. We should respect nature as creation, but are in charge to protect and value the landscape.
