Luopan or Geomancer's Compass

The reading talks about what can be good and bad in orientation. The orientation of building within surroundings was already significant consideration for the ancient people. If the location of residential areas is closed to mountain, they would take a good advantage from being affected by storm or dust blowing. Such the way that ancient Chinese had to practice might have been an important way to keep them safe and healthy. The bad luck that they thought about to design buildings might be wise direction to survive. Such theory might be superstitious for us as compared to what we are thinking in terms of scientific ways. But the ideas and experience of their way that they came up with might have contributed to development of layout and orientation to contemporary design. It could be important to ponder where the knowledge came from.
