Stephanie Main, Landscape Planning – Contents and Procedures-

This German article for landscape planning teaches the average person about the Federal Nature Protection Act. The act requires the planner use at least two, if not three of the following planning areas: State, region, community, or part of the community. Landscape planning considers a broad spectrum of factors, but the two main goals are nature protection and landscape management. As Landscape Architects in the USA, we are taught these ideals (that may seem common knowledge) throughout our education. This includes different scales of planning and incorporating the various scales into the design work. Also, the consideration of existing habitat and important cultural lands is crucial. Each aspect of consideration throughout the design becomes a layer, which overlap and create patterns.

I agree that you mentioned that consideration create ovelap and pattern. Additionally we should be able to analyse the data correctly and precisly to achieve those goals.

I like how you thought of it in terms of layering. We need to lay down the most important things like nature as a base map, and then add on top of it the share holders like the community, and other groups and areas that are effected to create a pattern and guide us in the right direction of planning.
