The subject of the article by Denis Wood is how satellite images and the maps of the world are not as accurate as we think. For a map of the earth to show one area accurately another has to be distorted. Some areas are also distorted for aesthetic and political reasons, like showing the Northern hemisphere larger in comparison to the Southern. Wood also explains how satellite images are distorted and manipulated. It is important to know that the images are not an accurate description of the earth and therefore we need to be wary of how we use these maps with the knowledge that the information is incorrect.
