McGuire, Amy. Chinese Geomancy

The article goes into detail about Feng Shui and the Luopan which is an instrument for divination and orientation of buildings or tombstones. Like the Bible is to Denig's article, Feng Shui is a set of guidelines for people to follow. It follows specific instructions that will give good fortune and prosperity or not. However these guidelines aren't just for spiritual purposes. Much of the rules are ways to communicate danger, or ways to co exist with nature.

These guidelines are also taught to us in a similar way. We have to carefully plan spaces, so that man is not in danger of nature, or so that man will not be a danger to nature.

I find it interesting that other countries outside of the US have so much respect for the landscape, and it really goes back to their religion or historical culture. We have already seen that the Islamic people respect the landscape because they are favorable to pleasing God, and that the Chinese respect the landscape because they put it before themselves and fear the landscape in hopes to remain safe from it's dangers.

Sarah makes a point. These other countries have so much respect for the landscape. It is seen as a privilege not a right such as in the United States. If we keep damaging the landscape with practices such as mining for coal, we will eventually lose the God's work that will never be able to be recreated in our lifetime.
